Here I will share and explain some of what I have learned from 20 + years of rescuing, researching and using old looms and spinning wheels.
Bear in mind I am not an expert, only someone with a good deal of information and some personal experience using these tools.
I’m still learning each and every day and have yet to achieve my goal of crafting quality cloth from sheep’s back to finished product, though I’m getting closer and closer.
Old School Wool and Weaving Center, located in Truxton, N.Y. was started in March of 2018, born from my need to establish a working space for all of my accumulated period tools and locally raised fiber. It is a place for information and practical hands-on experience. I am available to teach on demand, and schedule visiting instructors throughout the year to teach a variety of classes.
Barn looms will be the first official topic of discussion and I invite questions and comments.
I will post info and pictures when available each Wednesday and Saturday. You can follow Old School Wool and Weaving Center on Facebook by clicking here or on the small Facebook logo on the right bottom of the website.
